If you are like me I enjoy the break from routine but it also allows for more time with my children and I can have a better prayer schedule with them with all the extra time. Usually during the year my kids have adoration time at school, but once that is over it is even more important for me to make the effort to take them to the chapel. Often times we can make a visit to Jesus before heading to the pool or library. Any time you are heading out the door is a good time for a quick visit to see Jesus and pray! :) You don't have to stay for an hour, I suggest you go more often for short visits, it helps the kids to develop their prayer life and trust in Jesus.

Here are two photos from our last adoration day at school for this year at St Francis of Assisi parish in Wichita, Kansas.
It is never too late to take the kids
to adore Jesus....perhaps you hoped to start earlier but busy days got in the
way...don't lose heart! Take a few minutes after school, after a short trip to the
store, on a Sunday afternoon....drop in the chapel for just a few minutes if that is
all you can spare. It is always a good time to pray together before Jesus.
Remember the 6th day of the Divine Mercy Novena and think about how your
children are fulfilling this by their times of adoration...they give strength to Jesus
in that hour of agony.....
Lent is an especially good time to bring children to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Fill the time not spent before the tv with time before the Monstrance, adoring Jesus....giving thanks for the Eucharist remaining with us, Emmanuel, God with us! :)
We are all excited about the Oct. 13th consecration of our Holy Father! He will consecrate the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary again! :) I am so pleased that he entrusted his pontificate to Our Lady of Fatima, and now this! Let us all join him that day and renew our own personal consecrations to the IH of Mary, visit your adoration chapel, take your children and pray for our Holy Father, for Peace in the world, and let's consecrate ourselves again to our Blessed Mother and to Jesus in service to His Blessed Sacrament! Let us never tire of making Him more known and loved in the Holy Eucharist! Please continue to keep us in your prayers for the big mission of Fr Antoine and Br Leopold in Belgium and the Netherlands in November. They will visit over 30 parishes and schools! We pray the tiny seeds will take root in the hearts of all these children they meet! I have found that most pastors and principals are open to this when approached with the idea. :) There are many ways to make this fit into a school schedule. For example: You can try to start with First Friday! At our school we have "First Friday Devotion". This is the one day of the week that the entire student body meets for "all school Mass". On first Friday, just after Mass is ended, our pastor then brings Jesus in the Monstrance into the main body of church (carried from the adoration chapel that is attached to the church). We then have adoration for around 15 minutes led by Father, meditation and a song, and then we pray the Litany of the Sacred Heart. We close with Divine Praises and a benediction and father carries the Monstrance back to the chapel. If you have never tried this a great day to start would be October 4th as this is the World Day of Prayer for children! And, feast of our new Holy Father, Pope Francis!

Other ways to offer are any day of the week that fits your school schedule and you can either have the teachers bring the students to the chapel if you have one, or make the church the chapel for the day and regular adorers can make their hour in there. This helps as there are times when there is no class in there and this way someone is always there praying while Jesus is there in the Monstrance.

An example for you is that our school offers First Monday Adoration day. The students that day will come in with their class in a time that works for each teacher. They are given a schedule to pick their time at the start of the school year and that will be their time each month for the year. They come in from 9-11 am and 1-3 pm. There are 3 20 minutes slots each hour. Also, our 7th and 8th grade classes, now that they have been coming all these years, these children no longer need to be led in prayer, they are able to spend the time alone, and their teacher simply brings each class that day at the regular class time for religion! Works great!

The younger grades are led in prayer and song by volunteers, usually moms, who come for an hour each month to lead. If you would like more info on making this work give me a call, or visit the Children of Hope website! God bless you!Sandy Rongishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07407391378127861416noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3300070374044386833.post-63177267102315384722013-07-11T10:43:00.001-07:002013-07-11T10:43:18.992-07:00Always in need of prayers! It is a great honor to help lead the children and families that will attend the congress to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. This will be the third IEC for Children of Hope to be present. Each time is a new part, pray we do what we can....all for Jesus! :)

A side note, we just celebrated the 10th anniversary of Children's Adoration at my parish! I have good intentions but little time like most people! I hope to get more regular in writing!

Today is the feast day of one of my families all time favorite Saints! St Dominic Savio! He is such a favorite that 2 of my children have made their First Holy Communions on this day and today is the one year anniversary for one of them. Also, my 15 year old will take this Saint as his namesake in Confirmation in less than a month now.

St Dominic Savio is a great patron for children who adore. He served with great reverence at Holy Mass for St John Bosco from the age of 5. He lived a life close to Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. He had such a love for Mary.

I encourage you to learn more about him and share his life story with the children in your lives and envoke his prayers for your children.

God bless you all!Sandy Rongishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07407391378127861416noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3300070374044386833.post-65486159026798172592009-02-04T04:36:00.000-08:002009-02-04T04:39:02.365-08:00New Childrens Adoration Video on YoutubeI put this together yesterday. It was the 7th anniversary of beginning childrens adoration at my home parish of St Francis of Assisi in Wichita, Kansas. We began 02/02/02 at 2 pm! I can hardly believe it has been so long now. So many graces and miracles from these times of prayer with the children. I will write more this week about times from these hours but for today let me tell you of one precious memory from the first hour....

A young mother arrived with her 5 year old son, Alex, and said they were so happy to be there but would have to leave right after to get to another appointment and wouldn't have time to stop and talk. She thanked me in advance for getting this going, etc, and so we had our hour and when it was over we all left the chapel and I was surprised to see My friend and her son had gone back up to the front of the chapel and were kneeling in front of Jesus. Later she called me and said she had needed to leave to get to an urgent appointment but after it was over this little son whom she worried might not last an hour of adoration had turned to her while walking out and said, "Mom, can we stay a little longer? I'm not done talking to Jesus yet!" :-) She said, "How could I resist!"Sandy Rongishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07407391378127861416noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3300070374044386833.post-89401781405217152682009-02-03T05:21:00.000-08:002009-02-03T05:27:08.538-08:00YoutubeHope you enjoy this peek into the events from Catholic Schools Week in the Diocese of Wichita, Kansas last week. It has been an amazingly busy two weeks for me, first with the preparations and then the actual week of activities getting Brother to all the schools. Let me tell you a bit about what we did....

We plan each year to bring in a Brother to lead children at various schools in our Diocese of Wichita, Kansas. This year it was fantastic! Br Gabriel Thomas joined us and was able to lead over 2400 children in 5 whirlwind days!

The differences in the schools is amazing! Some, and actually most of the schools here have atleast one day per month where the children are brought in to the church for adoration. They are led by either parent volunteers or teachers. I will talk more about that in future posts. But for now I will show you a few pictures from this fantastic week here.... more later...... :-)Sandy Rongishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07407391378127861416noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3300070374044386833.post-41377286571039780632009-01-16T10:17:00.000-08:002009-01-16T10:20:13.414-08:00Keeping in touch with youGreetings!
